Kathmandu: Nepal's Election Commission is set to disqualify 293 candidates from 21 political parties who had filed their nominations under the Proportionate Voting System (PVS) for the April 10 election.
The EC has released names of 227 candidates who failed to produce citizenship certificate and 66 others who were under-aged, according to sources.
The Commission has the power to disqualify candidates who do not fulfill requisite criteria under the PVS.
Earlier, the EC had set Wednesday as deadline for all political parties concerned to produce evidence to qualify their respective candidates.
Altogether 6,000 candidates have submitted their names representing different political parties under the PVS for the Constituent Assembly polls. Source : PTI
