Twelve killed in Pakistan building collapse
Wednesday, April 02, 2008 20:15 [IST]
Multan: At least 12 people were killed and 26 others injured today when a two-storey building in central Pakistan collapsed after gas cylinders inside exploded, police said.

The incident happened in the industrial city of Faisalabad after gas started leaking from cylinders stored in a shop inside the building, city police chief Aslam Tarin told AFP.

"There was a huge explosion which razed the building," he said.

At least 12 bodies have been recovered from the rubble, he said, adding that at least 10 of the injured were in serious condition.

The victims were mostly truck loaders who were sleeping in the upper portion of the building, he added.
