New Delhi: Noting that "dynasty" has become an issue in politics, senior BJP leader L K Advani today said he would not like his daughter Pratibha to venture into it.
"Unfortunately today dynasty has become an issue. When people tell me that she (Pratibha) should be in politics... I oppose it because its an issue on which we always confront the principal ruling party in the country," he said in an interview to television channel NDTV here, which also featured his daughter Pratibha Advani.
Recounting the toughest phase of Advani's life, Pratibha said though she was too young during the Emergency days, "the Jinnah controversy soon after his Pakistan yatra and the Hawala case" were the phases which were difficult. Pratibha said during these times, they felt let down by some friends and "I also made this clear to them," she added.
On Advani's confession in his autobiography "My Country My Life" that he thought of retirement late last year while nearing his 80th birthday, Pratibha said whenever he would plan to retire, it would be his call and "we will be with him".
"I am yet to come across a person like him....the country needs him, and whatever his call, we will support him," Pratibha said, as Advani looked on with moist eyes. On his emotional nature, Advani referred to an article he had read in Reader's Digest that tears come readily to emotional people whether they are happy or sad. "It used to surprise me that why am I crying even though somebody is praising me," he said.
