Dubai: An Indian couple committed suicide by hanging from a ceiling fan at their house in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia after they came to know that the woman was suffering from AIDS.

Eastern Province police spokesman, Yousuf Al-Qahtani told Arab News yesterday the couple was reported missing by the man's brother.

"Civil Defence officers arrived at the couple's apartment and broke down the door to find the man and his wife hanging from a ceiling fan. A suicide note was found at the scene stating that the couple was upset that the woman had AIDS," he said.
