Bangkok: Thai Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej left hospital today after undergoing two days of treatment for the flu, a spokesman said.
"The team of physicians agreed that the prime minister can return home for recuperation," Kaorop Wongprasert, spokesman for the private Bumrungrad Hospital, told reporters in Bangkok. Samak was admitted to hospital on Tuesday suffering from a high fever and diarrhoea, symptoms he came down with on Monday during a trip to Laos for the six-nation Greater Mekong Summit.
His spokesman initially blamed fermented fish for the premier's stomach troubles, but doctors diagnosed him with a mild case of the flu. Samak's illness prompted the premier to postpone official visits to the Philippines and Brunei.
