Man's remains found in tiger enclosure in China
Friday, April 04, 2008 21:44 [IST]
Beijing: Bones and tattered clothing were found in the enclosure of a lion and a tiger at a zoo in China's northeastern province of Heilongjiang, state media said today.

The remains were discovered on March 25 in a zoo in Harbin, the capital of the province, when staff were cleaning, Xinhua news agency said.

An initial police investigation found that the victim was a 37-year-old man, Zhang Yachun, from a township about 30 kilometres away from the zoo, according to Xinhua.

Zhang was known to have psychological problems, the news agency reported.

It is not yet known how Zhang managed to breach the enclosure, and the fence was not damaged, according to Xinhua.

A further investigation is underway, the news agency said.
