Kuala Lumpur: Deputy Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak said today security measures must be enforced at all times at strategic places such as airports in the country to prevent any untoward incidents.
He said places such as airports were the entry and exit points for tourists visiting the country and they would want to have the assurance that they were safe and free from harm.
"As such, strategic places such as KLIA (the KL International Airport in Sepang) are places where we have to maintain security at all times," he said when asked to comment on the daring armed robbery at the KLIA on Wednesday night.
Five people, one of them a policeman, were injured in a shootout between several armed robbers and the armed escorts of two moneychangers who lost $1.5 million (RM3.3 million) in the robbery outside the departure lounge.
Najib spoke to reporters after attending a meeting with Felda staff at the Dewan Perdana Felda here. Najib said he hoped that there would not be any occurrence of similar incidents.
"I believe the police will take steps to ensure security at all times at KLIA because it is the country's primary entry-exit point," he said. Source : PTI
