Dhar: A local court here today sent 13 SIMI activists, arrested on March 27,to judicial custody till April 25,dismissing their plea for release on bail.
The SIMI activists, including its Madhya Pradesh chief Safdar Nagori, after their arrest, were remanded to police custody and were today produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate'S S Thakur under tight security, who sent them to jail under judicial custody till April 25.
All the activists would be kept in Indore central jail.
Appearing on behalf of SIMI activists, their lawyer Noor Mohammad had moved two applications one for the release of the SIMI activists on bail and another for providing adequate security to them and a comprehensive inquiry into the matter.
The Chief Judicial Magistrate dismissed both the applications and ordered them to be kept under judicial custody.
The court has also accepted another application moved by Delhi police to hand over the arrested SIMI activists for interrogation in connection with to several matters.
The CJM, after hearing the Delhi Police application said SIMI activists would be handed over to it but only after the matter here was over.
Earlier, while arriving at the court, Mohammad was attacked by unidentified persons allegedly for defending SIMI activists, who have been charged with illegal activities and aiding anti-national elements.
