Berlin: German national Werner Franz G., 44, accused by German prosecutors of spying for Russia, has pleaded guilty, a source in a Munich court said.
German prosecutors said the accused between "May 2004 and December 2006, for a monetary reward, handed over documents and other materials on hi-tech products, mainly used for civilian purposes but also applicable for military use, to a Russian secret service officer".
The source said on Saturday citing prosecutors that the accused met the Russian officer in Germany and neighbouring countries. Werner Franz G. faces one to 10 years in prison depending on "the gravity of damage inflicted upon the state and the presence of aggravating circumstances".
