'People support imp for 27% quota implementation'
Sunday, April 13, 2008 21:54 [IST]
New Delhi: With the apex court clearing reservation of OBCs category in institutes of higher education, the Centre is now seeking support from the public for its successful implementation, Union HRD minister Arjun Singh said.

Singh while congratulating the UPA government for getting the "favourable" verdict, said, "people's support is needed for implementation of 27 per cent reservation for the other backward classes in institutes of higher education."

He was speaking at a function organised by OBC groups to thank him for his "efforts" in getting the 27 per cent reservation for the students of backward classes.

"I thank everybody and ask for their support in implementing it," he added.

All should counter trouble we may face in implementing the reservation, Singh said.

Senior Congress leaders and office bearers, including representatives of various communities and commissions felicitated Singh at the function.
