Abdul Kalam to visit Canada

Toronto: Former President Dr Abdul Kalam will embark on a three-day private visit to Canada from April 17 to present Global India Award and address a number of meetings with top scientists in various universities.

During his visit Kalam will present the Global India award, instituted by Canada India Foundation, carrying a plaque and USD 50,000,to Sam Pitroda for his outstanding contributions in the field of telecommunications. Top Canadian politicians and other dignitaries including RL Narayan, the High Commissioner of India to Canada will attend the function.

Former president often referred to as the Missile Man of India , will share his insights at the University of Waterloo about the growing ties between India and Canada in furthering global development. Kalam, widely regarded as one of the country's greatest presidents and popularly known as the People's President, will address a public lecture on Thursday, April 17,entitled Canada and India Partnership in Global Development.
