Monday, April 21, 2008 12:53 [IST]
New Delhi: The Supreme Court today stayed the Allahabad High Court order restraining Uttar Pradesh government from carrying out construction activities at the Ambedkar Park in Lucknow.

A Bench comprising Justices H K Sema and Markandey Katju also restrained all the proceedings relating to the matter in the High Court and issued notice to the petitioner on state government's plea seeking transfer of the petition to the apex court.

The High Court had on April 4 directed the state government to maintain status quo on the construction activities, which were being undertaken in preparation for the birth anniversary celebrations of Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar on April 14.
