Body of missing Norwegian skier found
Monday, April 21, 2008 20:56 [IST]

Srinagar: The body of a Norwegian woman, who went missing in January while skiing, was found from a stream in the north Kashmir Gulmarg ski resort on Monday, officials said.

Francisca Rogne went missing Jan 8 during a snow storm in Gulmarg.

"We have recovered the body of the Norwegian skier from a stream. Rogne went missing on Jan 8, the day she arrived in Gulmarg. She left with her ski gear after checking into a hotel. Massive searches were launched to trace her," a state tourism officer said.

"The body was found in the afternoon and it will be sent for autopsy," he added.

Thousands of skiers thronged Gulmarg this winter following the heaviest snowfall in many years.

With the spring setting in, the snow in Gulmarg valley has started melting, forming several streams.
