Bashir appointed Pak Foreign Secretary

Islamabad: Pakistan's Ambassador to China Salman Bashir was today appointed as its new Foreign Secretary after incumbent Riaz Muhammad Khan requested that he be relieved due to personal and health reasons. The government accepted Khan's request and appointed Bashir as the new Foreign Secretary, Foreign Office spokesman Muhammad Sadiq said. Bashir joined the Foreign Office in 1976. He has served as Ambassador to several countries and as Assistant Director (Asia-Pacific) in the Foreign Ministry.
