Saturday, April 26, 2008 00:19 [IST]

Amritsar: Not satisfied with her first meeting in 18 years with her brother, Dalbir Kaur, sister of death row prisoner Sarabjit Singh, said the entire family wanted to meet meet him again, without bars this time.

"I could not hug my brother, he also could not hug his daughters since he was behind the bars. It was very tough time for Sarabjit when we met him as he was struggling hard to hold back his tears", Kaur told PTI over phone from Lahore, adding she also could not hold her tears back.

"During the meeting, Sarabjit himself prepared tea for the entire family and we took it with milk burfi (sweet)," she added.

The entire family wishes to visit Sarabjit at the Kot Lakhpat Jail in Lahore once again but this time they want to hug him, for which they should be allowed to go beyond the bars in the jail, she said.

Kaur also told that she had requested former Pakistan Human Rights Minister of Pakistan Ansar Burney, Pak Prime Minister's PA and Human rights activist Asma Jehangir to do the needful for arranging one more proper meeting for the family with Sarabjit.

Meanwhile, the family visited Nanakana Sahab Gurdwara, the birthplace of first Sikh Guru, Guru Nanak and paid obeisance.

The priest of the gurdwara also performed ardas for the long life of Sarabjit Singh besides his safe repatriation to India at earliest possible, Kaur added.

Kaur said the family sought visa extension in order to meet the president, prime minister and officials of Home Ministry of Pakistan.
