Iran denies any clash with US vessel in Gulf
Saturday, April 26, 2008 05:08 [IST]

Tehran: Iran denies that any confrontation took place between Iranian boats and a US vessel in the Gulf, a source in the naval force of the Revolutionary Guards told state-run Al-Alam television today.

A US defence official said earlier today a vessel chartered by the US military fired warning shots last morning at two speedboats believed to be Iranian that approached it in the Gulf.

"There was no confrontation between the Iranian boats and the foreign boat in the Persian Gulf," the source, which was not identified, told the Arabic-language satellite channel.

"If shots were possibly fired, then they could have been shot at non-Iranian boats," the source added.
