Two held for harassing British woman get bail

Kozhikode: An autorickshaw driver and his friend, who were arrested here yesterday for allegdly trying to outrage the modesty of a 20-year-old British woman, were granted bail by a lower court here today.

Kristy Goss from Kent, UK, who reached here on a tourist visa, was allegedly harassed by authorickshaw driver Abdul Khadar and his friend Abdul Jamal around midnight on Thursday after she alighted from a bus at Karanthur near here.

Realising she had boarded a differnt bus en route to Thiruvananthapuram, she engaged the autorickshaw of Abdul Khadar to be taken back to Kozhikode. However, the autorickshaw driver and his friend allegedly misbehaved and tried to harass her.

As she screamed, the duo dropped her near the private bus stand in the town. They duo were charged with assault and use of criminal force to outrage the modesty of a woman.
