Islamabad: At least seven persons, including a woman, were killed and 12 others injured today in a clash between Taliban militants and tribesmen in Pakistan's northwestern Mohmand tribal region.

The clashes erupted when the Taliban fighters attacked the house of an alleged carjacker belonging to the Dadu Khel tribe and killed six of his kin. Dadu Khel tribesmen retaliated and killed at least one Taliban cadre, Dawn News channel reported.

The fighting continued till late in the night. Local officials said both sides were using heavy weapons. The local political administration sent a tribal jirga to mediate between the two sides and stop the fighting.
