Jammu: An army jawan was killed when he slipped from a mountain top and fell into a deep gorge in Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir today, official sources said.

Sepoy Jeevan Chand, who hailed from Uttarakhand, slipped from a mountain top and fell into a deep gorge during a counter insurgency operation near Kalnei Nallah area in Kither-Bonjawa area of Kishtwar, they said.

His body was later recovered by troops and doctors at the hospital declared him brought dead.
