Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Government is organising a 15-day summer sports camp, begining today, for school children of Bhopal district.
The camps would be organised to impart training in various sports during summer as per the availability of sport facilities in the concern schools and interest of participants, an official release issued here stated.
The action plan for the year 2008-09 in this regard was finalised at a meeting convened to discuss arrangements for sports camps recently.
The meeting was attended by physical teachers, players from different fields, and sports incharges of 55 cluster centres, it said.
Decision to start sports practice sessions in the morning as well as in the evening was also taken in the meeting.
Besides, directives were also issued at the meeting for mandatory implementation of Yoga training for ensuring sound health of students and martial arts training to girls with a view to enabling them to defend themselves.
Proposals have also been sought from the government educational institutions for developing sports grounds so that sports activities can be started in schools on a regular basis.
After conclusion of sports training camps, a weeklong Yoga training camp would also be organised for physical teachers and players, starting from May 16 to 22. Source : PTI
