Large number of pilgrims throng Vaishnodevi shrine

Jammu: A record 17.82 lakh devotees visited the Vaishnodevi shrine in the first four months of the year, marking an increase of 1.92 lakh over the previous year.

Last year, 15.90 lakh pilgrims visited the shrine, Additional Chief Executive Officer of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board M K Dwivedi said.

The numbers are expected to swell during summer with school vacations round the corner.

About 18,000-20,000 pilgrims are visiting the shrine every day from all parts of the country to pay obeisance.
