New Delhi: A mother-daughter duo were today found murdered with throats slit open in their residence in south Delhi, a day after five murders rocked the national capital.
The bodies of Asha (52) and daughter Alka (21) were discovered by Harilal, Asha's husband, when he returned home in Kalkaji area from office at around 8:20 pm, a senior police official said.
Harilal claimed that cash worth lakhs, which he got as advance after selling a property in west Delhi's Uttam Nagar, were found missing from the house.
However, the official refused to confirm it saying investigations were on. "It seems that the assailants had a friendly entry. We are investigating all angles, including the property angle. Investigators are trying to figure out whether the family has any enemies," the official said.
The national capital was yesterday rocked by a spate of five murders in various parts of the city. This is the second sensational murder in Kalkaji area within a months time.
Earlier on April seven, a businessman Arun Gupta was shot dead by three men in broad daylight. Five persons, including Gupta's brother-in-law, were arrested in connection with the murder, which was apparently due to a property dispute.
According to official figures, Delhi witnessed 134 murders and 119 attempts on life during the first three months of the year. Sources said at least 20 murders were reported in different parts of the city in April alone. Source : PTI
