Saturday, May 03, 2008 11:36 [IST]
Jaipur: Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhra Raje has asked the Centre to release adequate funds to enable her government to vigorously implement the National Rural Employment Guarantee programme in the state.

In a letter to Union Minister for Rural Development Raghuvansh Prasad Singh, Raje said the programme has commenced in all the new districts of the state but the labourers could not be paid in time due to lack of adequate funds.

She asked Singh to ensure release of the outstanding fund of the first and second phases for the year 2007-08 at the earliest.

Raje has also apprised Singh that the outstanding amount for last year was around Rs 50 crore to 90 crore.
