Sitamarhi: One person was today arrested and three motorcycles seized in connection with the attack on Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) MLA Nagina Devi in Bihar's Sitamarhi district last night, Superintendent of Police N P Tripathy said.
Pushpa Ranjan, who detained by police for interrrogation soon after the attack in which the MLA from Bathnaha had a narrow escape, while her bodyguard Ramji Ram, suffered pellet injury in the firing by a group, suspected to be supporters of Bijendra Yadav, panchayat head of Kaswa near Riga, Tripathy said.
Tripathy said the incident was apparently a fallout of a scuffle between the MLA's son Manoj Kumar and Bijendra Yadav during an inquiry by the Deputy Development Commissioner Ajit Kumar Singh into alleged irregularities committed by the panchayat head in distribution of foodgrains meant for last year's flood victims.
The MLA's son had picked a quarrel with Yadav and then allegedly exchanged fisticuffs with him in the presence of the DDC.
Nagina Devi said she was attacked for raising the alleged misdeeds of Bijendra Yadav in relief distribution in the assembly. Source : PTI
