Armed police fired upon in West London

London: Armed police today opened fire after they were shot at near a hospital, where Prince William was on a visit, in an upmarket west London suburb but there was no report of any casualty.

Armed officers returned fire after they were shot at in a residential place in Chelsea this evening, police said.

Police were called to the Markham Square at 4.50pm (2230 IST) by members of the public who had heard six or seven gunshots, they said.

The firing took place when Prince William was on a visit to the Royal Marsden hospital in the area.
