Gates, Indonesia to develop human bird-flu vaccine
Wednesday, May 07, 2008 19:36 [IST]

Jakarta: Bill Gates, founder of the Microsoft Corporation, will help Indonesia develop a human bird-flu vaccine, the Jakarta Post reported on Wednesday.

According to the report, the funds will be provided through the aid agency Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Gates is expected to arrive at this Indonesian Capital on Thursday for talks with the government. He will also deliver a lecture here on Friday, the report said.

His visit will help in promoting investments in the country. The government is seeking to obtain one million computers from Microsoft for educational purposes, the report quoted Welfare Minister Aburizal Bakrie as saying.

"In the higher and junior high schools, there is only one computer for every 1,000 students. We want to improve this to at least one computer for every 20 students," he said.
