Jalpaiguri: Eighteen persons were injured, nine of them seriously, when a pick-up van overturned at Paharpur, in the outskirts of Jalpaiguri town yesterday.

Police said the vehicle, carrying supporters of Kamtapur Peoples Party to a rally at Daukimari, overturned after the driver lost control.

While eight injured persons were admitted to Jalpaiguri sadar hospital, one person was taken to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital.

The rest were discharged after first-aid.
