Detainee dies in Jammu district jail

Jammu: A detainee at the district jail in Jammu, the winter capital of Jammu Kashmir, died today after an illness, official sources said.

Forty-seven-year-old Rajinder Singh, who was held in connection with a case involving a series of thefts in 2007, died of kidney failure inside the jail, the sources said.

He was undergoing treatment for the past one month.

Singh's body was handed over to his family after post-mortem for the last rite, the sources added.
