13 killed in bus mishap in J&K

Jammu: At least 13 persons were killed and three others injured when a bus fell into Chenab river in Kishtwar district today.

The incident took place when the bus, with 30 passengers on board was proceeding towards Kishtwar from Jammu, skidded off the road and rolled down into the Chenab at Kandni-Phagumarh area at around 1230 hours, official sources said.

The bodies of 10 people have been recovered by Army and the police, who launched rescue operations immediately after the mishap, they said.

The injured have been shifted to Kishtwar hospital, they said, adding rescue operations were on to fish out bodies of other passengers as the death toll is likely to go up.
