Muzaffarnagar: A life convict, who escaped from the district prison 27 years ago, was arrested by police yesterday evening and brought back to the prison.

Afzal, who had been sentenced to life imprisonment for murder in 1981,escaped soon after being awarded the punishment by a local court and had been living in Bihar since then, police sources said today.

He has been brought to the district jail here to serve the remainder of his term, they said.
