Panaji: Goa government today reinstated suspended forensic expert Silvano Sapeco who had conducted the first autopsy on murdered British teenager Scarlett Eden Keeling which attributed her death to drowning in shallow beach water.
"He (Sapeco) has been reinstated pending an inquiry," State Health Secretary Anand Prakash told PTI this evening.
Sapeco, attached to a state-run Goa Medical College and Hospital here, was suspended in March by the Health Ministry on the recommendation of the police for alleged "laxity".
The expert had conducted the autopsy on Scarlett's on February 18,the day when her bruised body was found on Goa's popular Anjuna beach.
Scarlett was left to die on the beach after being allegedly drugged and raped.
