12 killed in road mishap in Gujarat

Vadodara: At least 12 labourers from Maharashtra were killed and five others injured when the truck in which they were travelling turned turtle in neighbouring Anand district, police said.

The incident took place when the driver of the truck, proceeding towards Vallabhipur in Bhavnagar district from Ankaleshwar town, lost control of the vehicle, which turned turtle and fell into a ditch near Ganbhira village in Anand district, they said.

Ten labourers were killed on the spot, while two others succumed to their injuries at a hospital here, police said, adding that the injured have been admitted to a hospital.

The labourers hailed from Rajvirpahad village in Maharashtra's Nandurbar district. Further details are awaited.
