Mob rule continues in Bihar, three lynched

Buxar: Three of the four dacoits, who shot dead a guard and looted money from a State Bank of India branch in Bihar's Buxar district on Friday were lynched by vigilantes.

The guard Nand Kumar was gunned down by the dacoits who came to the bank on three motorcycles and looted the cash, Superintendent of Police Amit Jain said.

Local people who rushed to the bank caught three members of the gang and beat them to death, Jain said.

Another member of the gang drowned when he jumped into a river while trying to escape the wrath of the locals, he said.

Two others, who jumped into the river, were also caught by the villagers but their lives were spared.

SBI manager AK Poddar said the dacoits looted Rs 4.40 lakh in cash.
