Jammu: Asserting that it was not possible for Kashmiri Pandits to return to valley till Kashmir issue is resolved between India and Pakistan, former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Farooq Abdullah today said India should speed up peace process with the neighbouring country.
Responding to queries during an interactive session organised by J-K Forum for Peace and Reconciliation, Abdullah said the situation in Kashmir valley is not conducive for return of Kashmiri Pandits.
"Whenever our government had tried to bring Kashmiri Pandits back in valley, they were massacred by some forces, who did not want their return to the valley and the process of their rehabilitation could not be achieved," he said.
His government had also brought a law to protect the properties of this displaced community when Pyare Lal Handoo was the minister for law, he said, adding that this law was also violated by finding alternatives to sell the properties.
Some members of Mulsim communities and Kashmiri Pandits were responsible for creating wedge between these two communities for their vested interest, the National Conference patron, alleged. Source : PTI
