Nashik police on anti-encroachment drive
Saturday, May 10, 2008 12:22 [IST]
Nashik: With a view to tackle growing traffic problems, city police today launched an anti-encroachment drive here.

The drive aims to remove encroachments in the busy areas of Ravivar Karanaja, Nehru garden, Mahatma Gandhi Road and Mehar, City Police Commissiner Himanshu Roy said.

He told reporters here that increasing population, rising number of vehicles and encroachment by hawkers and auto-rickshaws are posing serious traffic problems in the city.

Police have also began a drive against rickshaw drivers and made uniforms compulsory for them apart from possession of proper documents. So far action has been taken against 1200 of them, he added.
