Bhopal: Alleging irregularities in the voters' list, MPCC Chief Suresh Pachouri today demanded the Madhya Pradesh Election Commission to correct it by organising special camp at the booth level and also sought action against those officials involved in this exercise.
In a letter submitted to the Election Commission, alongwith leader of Opposition Jamuna Devi and Party's campaign incharge Ajay Singh, Pachouri apprised the Commission about the multiple irregularities including deletion of names, inclusion of illegal names, wrong addresses and sought two more months time to prepare a fresh and updated voters list.
The Congress leader also sought a comprehensive inquiry in preparing such a distorted list and punishment to those officials involved in it.
"Voters lists in Madhya Pradesh have been prepared, keeping in view 2008 assembly polls. It has large scale irregularities which needed corrections immediately...certain officials, under pressure from the state government, had identified some areas and without any complaints had deleted the names of voters and including those who do not either deserve or exists", the memorandum submitted to EC said.
It also said that officials do not reach the declared spot for preparing the identity cards.
"Thousands of voters in each and every assembly segment would be deprived of voting in case they failed to get their I-cards," the memorandum added. Source : PTI
