India ready for trade across LoC
Monday, May 12, 2008 20:56 [IST]

Srinagar: India has made all arrangements for trade across the Line of Control (LoC) and a green signal from Pakistan is awaited, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad said Monday.

“The road from Baramulla town to the Kaman post has been widened. Godowns and custom facilities are already in place," Azad told a public meeting at the border town of Uri in north Kashmir's Baramulla district, 89 km from here.

“If Pakistan gives the green signal, the trade across the LoC can be started tomorrow. We are ready and it is for Pakistan to take the next step now."

Referring to some separatist leader who have given the impression that India is reluctant to start the trans-LoC trade between the two parts of divided Kashmir, Azad said: “These leaders have developed a vested interest in the continuation of uncertainty and turmoil."
