Tuesday, May 13, 2008 12:11 [IST]
Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir government has initiated a process to fill up 16,000 vacancies in different departments of the state administration, a senior official said.

As many as 16,000 vacancies have been referred to the Service Selection Recruitment Board (SSRB) for recruitment on fast track basis, Chief Secretary B R Kundal said here today.

The administrative departments have been directed to refer all vacancies to SSRB within two days, he said at a meeting of administrative secretaries.

The chief secretary said administrative secretaries have been directed to sensitise the officials to respond to public needs and smoothen the recruitment process.

Kundal directed the power development department to take necessary steps for procurement of electronic meters and their installation without any further delay.

Reviewing release of funds to the district development commissioners, Kundal directed the planning department for early release of plan revenue funds to the newly created districts.

He also asked the Cooperative department to make adequate provision of fertilizer to the farmers for the ensuing Kharif season.
