Cong panchayat poll candidate goes missing in WB

Malda: A Congress candidate for panchayat election at Kaliachak I block Malda district went missing since last night with the party alleging that he was kidnapped by the CPI(M).

Ataur Sheikh, Congress nominee for Silampur II gram panchayat, was busy electioneering till 8 pm last night and he has not been found since then, police said today.

Congress leaders alleged that Sheikh, who defected from CPI(M) to join their party recently, was abducted by marxists before the May 18 panchayat poll.

Congress workers have gheraoed the Kalichak police station and demonstrate to protest against the incident.

The police were trying to find him out, the sources said.
