Dharamsala: Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama today expressed his condolence at the death of thousands of people in the earthquake that struck Sichuan province in China.
"I am deeply saddened by the loss of lives and many more who have been injured in the catastrophic earthquake that struck Sichuan province of China yesterday," the Dalai Lama said in his message on calamity.
"I would like to extend my deep sympathy and heartfelt condolences to those families who have been directly affected by the strong earthquake. I offer my prayers for those who have lost their lives and those injured in the earthquake," the noble laureate said.
The Dalai Lama issued his condolence message from the headquarters of the Tibetan government-in-exile here. A strong earthquake measuring 7.8 on the Richter scale had jolted Wenchuan county, Schuan province in south-west China killing 7,651 people.
