Desmond Tutu to receive Lincoln Leadership Prize
Wednesday, May 14, 2008 08:58 [IST]
Springfield, US: Archbishop Desmond Tutu visited the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum where a portrait of the South African human rights activist was unveiled.

The oil painting of a seated Tutu will hang next to a painting of Lincoln, the 16th US president. Yesterday, Tutu got a look at his portrait showing the Nobel Peace Prize winner seated in a wooden chair, hand on his chin, deep in thought.

"I think she got the nose right," Tutu said with a laugh as the crowd of nearly 100 clapped and cheered.

Tutu is to be in Chicago yesterday afternoon to accept the Lincoln Leadership Prize. It is awarded by the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library Foundation.

He is the award's second recipient. Retired US Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O Connor was recognized in 2006.

Tutu is scheduled to receive the award from presenter Oprah Winfrey at an award dinner.
