Wednesday, May 14, 2008 10:09 [IST]

Jammu: Two Lashker-e-Toiba militants, including a self-styled commander of the outfit, were killed in a fierce gunbattle with security forces in Doda district, official sources said today.

On specific information, police and security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Gandoh area of Doda district late last night.

A gunbattle soon broke out in which the two militants were killed.

They were identified as Farhat Hussain alias Mochi, area commander of LET, and Pakistani militant Abu Raja.

Two ak rifles and a large quantity of explosives and ammunition were recovered from the two militants, they said, adding the two were going to receive a group of militants of Al-Meran, a shadowy outfit of LET, who had infiltrated via Samba border recently.
