Lankan army targets suspected LTTE base
Wednesday, May 14, 2008 11:32 [IST]

Colombo: Sri Lankan jets bombed suspected Tamil Tiger training base in Kilinochchi district in the island's north on Wednesday, military sources here said.

The air force bombed a key Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) training facility at Kollanvillu, four kilometres south of Mulankavil, between 7.15 and 7.30 am, the defence ministry said.

It added that the target was hit. There was no immediate reaction from the LTTE.

The defence ministry said at least nine LTTE guerrillas were killed and 13 wounded in sporadic clashes with troops at the forward defences in the northwestern Mannar and northern Wanni regions on Tuesday.
