TMMK condemns Jaipur blasts
Wednesday, May 14, 2008 20:54 [IST]

Chennai: The Tamilnadu Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam (TMMK), a prominent Muslim outfit, Wednesday condemned the serial blasts in Jaipur and called for "stringent punishment" to the guilty.

In a statement issued here, TMMK leader M.H. Jawahirullah said: "TMMK considers the perpetrators of this heinous crime as barbarians who have targeted innocent people and a place of worship of our Hindu brethren."

Demanding that "the real perpetrators of this crime" should be found and "awarded the highest punishment", the TMMK noted that "similar deadly blasts have taken place in the past in various cities of our country. Whenever such blasts take place, the police go on record saying they have arrested the kingpin and other real accused."

Yet, the real culprits always escape while "innocent persons" were arrested, the TMMK noted, adding that such terrorist incidents "take place in city after city" in India.

The organisation demanded that "the central government constitute a special investigation team (SIT) comprising upright officers and book the real culprits" responsible for the Jaipur blasts.
