Rayagada: A youth was killed by suspected Naxalites who blamed him of being a police informer at Gothalpadar in Orissa's Rayagada district, police said today.

Rajendra Sahu (29) was standing near a pond last night along with a friend when an armed group shot at Sahu killing him on the spot, police said. His friend managed to escape.

Sahu had reportedly received threats from the ultras earlier, police said adding his father Nrusingha Charan Sahu had also been killed by left wing extremists about five years ago on suspicion of being an informer.

Villagers reported hearing at least seven rounds of gun shots, police said adding Sahu's bullet-riddled body was found on the side of the pond.
