Seven persons electrocuted in Orissa village
Saturday, May 17, 2008 13:22 [IST]
Dhenkanal (Orissa): At least seven labourers were electrocuted and four others injured when a machine they were pulling came in contact with a high tension wire at Saanda village here, triggering protests by locals.

The incident took place last night when a concrete mixer came in contact with a high tension electric wire, police said today.

Eleven labourers were pulling the mixture machine to the construction site.

The injured were rushed to a nearby government hospital at Talcher.

The incident triggered tension in the area with people attacking officials of the electricity department. They blamed the department for the poor maintenance of the high voltage wires.
