Gurgaon: At least 13 labourers, including five women, were killed and 26 injured when a wall of a warehouse under construction caved in near here following rain and high velocity winds.
Gurgaon Commissioner Rajeev Sharma said the incident took place last night at Khedakhuram village in Farrukhnagar tehsil, around 30 km from here, when the labourers were sleeping at the site. A FIR has been lodged against Kalpana Infrastructure Pvt Ltd, which was constructing the warehouse.
About 100 labourers were living adjacent to the under-construction site. Sub-Divisional Magistrate J S Sangwan has been named to head an inquiry into the incident by Gurgaon Deputy Commissioner Rakesh Gupta, Sharma told PTI.
Meanwhile, four of the seriously injured have been referred to the Safdarjung Hospital at Delhi while seven who received minor injuries were discharged after treatment at Gurgaon Civil Hospital, where other injured are also undergoing treatment. The height of the wall was around 20 feet, while the length was around 100 m. A compensation of Rs 50,000 has been announced for the relatives of those killed while Rs 5,000 would be given to the injured.
