Thiruvananthapuram: A 29-year-old Chinese woman tourist was found dead in a room in a private resort at Papanasam Beach at Varkala, about 30 km from here, police said today.

Zhoyan, a native of Bejing, had come to the country on a tourist visa and checked in at the resort on May 15. She went out of the room the next day and came back late in the night.

As the room remained locked till late night on May 17, the resort owner informed the police who broke open the door and found Zhoyan's body lying on the floor.

According to Varkala police, she had an injury on the back of her head. They suspect that she could have fallen down from the cot.

The body has been kept at the Medical College Hospital here. The Chinese Embassy haS been informed about the incident, police said.
