Nitin Mukesh gets Lata Mangeshkar Award

Bhopal:  Noted playback singer Nitin Mukesh was conferred with Lata Mangeshkar Award by Madhya Pradesh government at an impressive function in Indore.

Instituted by the department of culture, the Award carries a cash prize of Rs two lakh and a citation.

The award was handed over to the singer by state culture, mines and public relation minister Laxmikant Sharma yesterday in Indore, an official release here said.

Nitin Mukesh is the 24th recipient of the prestigious award instituted in honour of melody queen Lata Mangeshkar, who was born in Indore by the Madhya Pradesh government.

Dedicating the award to his mother and father, Nitin Mukesh, who is the son of legendary playback singer Mukesh, said it is matter of pride for him to receive this prestigious award.

Addressing the function, Sharma said that next year the award is completing its silver jubilee and therefore it will be celebrated in a grand manner by organising a seven-day long function.

Later, Nitin Mukesh enlivened the atmosphere by singing yesteryears popular songs sung by his father along with his troupe.
