Arun Gawli to face another MCOCA case
Tuesday, May 20, 2008 16:00 [IST]

Mumbai: Gangster-turned-MLA Arun Gawli will be booked in one more case under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act today, police said.

Joint Commissioner (Crime) of Police, Rakesh Maria told PTI that the police will be invoking the conditions of MCOCA in the murder of Shiv Sena corporator Kamlakar Jamsandikar in March last year. Maria had earlier said that "supari" (contract killing sum) was paid to Gawli by Sahebrao Bintade and Bala Surve for killing Jamsandikar.

The murder was a result of a personal and property dispute, which the duo had with Jamsandikar. The Crime Branch had arrested ten persons recently in connection with this case, while the local police had arrested seven others, two months after the murder.

Earlier on April 29, Gawli, arrested in a case of extortion, was booked under the provisions of the stringent MCOCA along with seven other gang members, including his brother Vijay Ahir.
